The ideal spy’s car

First of all, an update on today.  All went well.  I got my infusion, then my injection.  Now we have to wait about a week before we will know if I will need another one.

Now, onto today’s topic -

I was driving home from the surgicenter and encountered one of those wonderfully aggressive drivers who believe that attaching themselves to your trailer hitch (which, btw, my Focus does not have) will improve their gas mileage.  This wonderful experience got me to thinking about what one needs for the perfect car in this situation.

We have choices – perhaps a compartment of those triangular spike things guaranteed to flatten all four tires?  Nah, it leaves the spikes to puncture other’s tires as well and I only want to impact the dirty driver behind me.

OK, how about a cannon that fires a spike into the offender’s radiator.  A possibility.

A tank of molten tar with the nozzle aimed at the windshield.  Another possibility.

Anyway, these thoughts led me into thinking about spy cars over time.

One remembers the famous James Bond sports cars – the Aston Martin DB5 with the machine guns and ejector seat; the Lotus Espirit submarine car; the Aston Martin DBS and Vantage models.  Then, he went German – now, why a British spy would drive a premier German car is beyond me.  Somehow or other, I certainly doubt that M would truly allow this event to happen.  My guess is that some money changed hands :)

But what do James Bond and Maxwell Smart both have in common?  They drove Sunbeam’s originally.  Bond drove an Alpine Series 5 model and Smart drove a Tiger model.

So, clearly the ideal spy’s car is a Sunbeam – choose your model and come out fighting.

Till next time.
