The Democrats today introduced their health care reform bill – all 1,990 pages!!!!
Good evening – I learned the above while at my dentist today. It seems that a crown and root canal that were done God knows how many years ago (and I really mean that comment) needs to be redone.
Anyway, we were watching CNN, which is always on in his office. I saw Nancy Pelosi, our calculating, liberal third in line for the presidency, made a statement that absolutely flumaxed me – she stated that Congress would have 72 hours to read the bill.
72 hours to read 1,990 pages of legalese and determine how to vote for the bill. Are you f’n kidding me? Is she nuts? No one could adequately review such a bill in 72 days, much less 72 hours, but she PROMISED Congress would have 72 hours.
Anyone want to bet what wonderful surprises are hidden in this bill?

Wow. Of the 1000 important things to say about this bill — favorable or critical — this is at the top of the list? Really?
Not to mention, the format they use puts about 200 words on a page. If it is really taking us 72 hours to read this, we may need a 4000 page education bill next.

Center Square -
Your comment cements my point.
There are thousands of important issues in this bill that need to be appropriately considered, yet our Congressional leadership (or lack thereof) want to cram the bill through the process.
My entire point is that proper time should be given for consideration of something so important.
BTW – welcome

C’mon, they’ve been working on this for months. The bill is out there, and point-by-point analysis is available all over the place. How much more time does any of us need?
The fact is, people who have decided in advance they dislike healthcare reform use this argument to take a shot at the Democrats crafting the legislation. I have no problem with that, but can’t we be honest and acknowledge that is what this is all about?
